McMorris Rodgers: Smarter Spending in Washington

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 2250, FY 2016 Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill, which trims unnecessary legislative costs, putting the House of Representatives on track to save taxpayers $782 million. This bill also holds large government projects accountable, and and ensures that the Capitol Police are equipped to protect the American people.

“When House Republicans took majority of the House four years ago, we pledged to make Washington, D.C. more efficient. We know that cutting unnecessary costs means we can better represent people’s priorities. Today, I voted to uphold that commitment – maintaining low spending levels for House Members, holding large construction projects accountable, and providing Capitol Police with the support they need to protect all visitors and staff. To grow an Opportunity Economy, we must encourage responsible spending – and there is no better way to lead than by example. I thank Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA) for ensuring our government is funded in a responsible, accountable, and secure manner.”
