WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued a statement today after the House passed the Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills (SKILLS) Act:
“As America continues to face high unemployment and a growing national debt, we must empower individuals looking for work with critical job-training services. That’s what the SKILLS Act will do: it will streamline ineffective programs, eliminate unnecessary waste, and cut through government red tape. With nearly 4 million jobs unfulfilled, this legislation is exactly what the millions of jobless Americans in this country need.
“President Obama called on Congress to develop a more effective and efficient skills training program, and today the House acted on his call. House Republicans encourage the Senate to pass this legislation and send it to the President’s desk to be signed into law.”
