McMorris Rodgers: Making 21st Century Solutions a Priority

“This bill epitomizes the solutions we will continue to pass – solutions that will lower every-day costs, create jobs, and strengthen our economy. It’s time to say ‘yes’ to American Energy.

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 161, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, which modernizes the approval process for natural gas projects around the country by setting firm timelines and removing unnecessary regulation.

“Over half of American homes are powered by natural gas – and demand for natural gas continues to grow around the world. As the leader of the global energy revolution, America has the ability to provide natural gas at a lower cost – yet dozens of proposed projects are stuck in the maze of federal bureaucracy and overregulation. Waiting for a decision has caused many ventures to be abandoned – and countless economic opportunities to be lost. Today I voted to restore productivity through H.R. 161, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, which will modernize the approval process that is currently holding back America’s energy innovation. Now, these projects won’t be stuck in a never-ending waiting process. I applaud Rep. Pompeo (R-KS) for leading America’s New Congress to promote 21st-century energy solutions. This bill epitomizes the solutions we will continue to pass – solutions that will lower every-day costs, create jobs, and strengthen our economy. It’s time to say ‘yes’ to American Energy.”
