Washington, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed H. Res. 658 – a resolution condemning in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in Brussels on March 22, 2016, in which more than 30 civilians were murdered, and many more were severely wounded.
“Today, the whole House stands with the people of Belgium. As I’ve said many times, the enemies we face are becoming more radical than ever before, and the attacks in Brussels – and in cities around the world – are a reminder to us to be constantly vigilant. The groups that seek to destroy us thrive on chaos, and what they lack in standing armies they make up for in ruthless and indiscriminate violence against innocent life. But these attacks are also a reminder of just how desperate the rest of the world is for true leadership and a true commitment to destroying the groups that seek to harm the innocent. ”
