Individual Mandate Has to Go, and the Administration Agrees

WASHINGTON, DC House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today regarding the “hardship exemptions” to Obamacare issued by the Administration earlier this month:

“This Administration has – yet again – issued a ‘unilateral fix’ to a health care law that simply does not work. The recently-announced ‘hardship exemptions’ will essentially delay the individual mandate for the remainder of this year – an action that questions the efficacy of the law in its entirety – yet the President continues to block our efforts in the House to provide the same relief to hardworking Americans. Tomorrow, the House will vote to delay the law’s unfair and detrimental individual mandate tax and provide real relief to everyone in this country. This law is hurting more people than it is helping – so it’s time for the White House to work with Congress on providing the American people with real solutions.”
