Washington, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018. Introduced by Representative Mac Thornberry (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services, the NDAA provides the readiness, resources, and reform needed to strengthen the U.S. military.

“The National Defense Authorization Act directs needed resources to rebuild our military so that people in Eastern Washington and all Americans can be confident in their security and have the peace of mind knowing they are safe and free. NDAA will help modernize our military equipment, restore our military readiness, and provide a much-deserved pay raise to our troops, like those who serve at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington. Thanks to Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX)  for leading this effort to strengthen our military and put Americans’ safety first.”

Note: At a House Republican Leadership press conference on Wednesday, Chair McMorris Rodgers said about the NDAA, “Fundamental to keeping our country safe is ensuring that our military men and women have the resources they need.” Watch the full remarks here.
