WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after being sworn in to the 114th Congress.
“Tonight I was joined by my husband, Brian, and our three kids, Cole, Grace, and Brynn, to take my sixth oath of office as Eastern Washington’s representative in Congress. I am humbled by the trust the constituents of the Washington’s Fifth Congressional District have bestowed upon me to create new opportunities for people in every corner of this country. I am excited to welcome America’s New Congress – one that will chart the path toward a government that is more open, transparent, and trustworthy. As Chair of the House Republican Conference, I believe we must continue to look for building blocks to change the way Washington D.C. works, and we must do what the American people have elected us to do: solve problems and make life better for families from coast to coast. And in this first week alone, I am pleased to see so many commonsense, bipartisan solutions being brought to the House Floor. They’re the first of many to come in America’s New Congress.”
