Administration Cannot Selectively Enforce Laws

WASHINGTON, DC House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today issued the following statement on House actions this week to hold the Administration accountable to our nation’s laws:

“The separation of powers is one of the most basic principles on which our country was founded. It’s Congress’s job to write our laws, and the President’s job to enforce them. It is unacceptable for the President to unilaterally decide to enforce some laws and ignore others—and it’s the kind of massive government overreach that makes life harder for hardworking Americans. The legislation the House passed this week – the Executive Needs to Faithfully Observe and Respect Congressional Enactments of the Law (ENFORCE) Act and the Faithful Execution of the Law Act – will rein in the federal government and provide greater certainty and more security for the American people. I commend Chairman Goodlatte and my colleagues on the Judiciary Committee for holding the White House accountable to the people it represents.”
