Majority of House D’s Now Support Impeachment

It took less than a week after the August recess began for a surge of Democrats to line up behind a baseless impeachment inquiry. In a direct repudiation to Speaker Pelosi’s leadership strategy, a majority of her caucus is now on record supporting impeachment:

  • Politico: “Majority of House Democrats now support impeachment inquiry”
  • Buzzfeed: “Progressive groups plan to make House Democrats’ summer vacation all about impeachment”
  • The New York Times: “Support for impeachment inquiry grows in the House”

Here’s what it means: In what’s been dubbed the “Summer of Impeachment,” House Democrats will spend the next several weeks talking about their divisive (and overwhelmingly unpopular) political attempt to take down President Trump and undo the 2016 election.

Many House D’s have tried sounding the alarm to warn their colleagues about the perils of impeachment, including Rep. Stephanie Murphy: “I believe impeachment will assuredly consume us all. And basically grind our nation to a halt.”

Bottom line: House Democrats are committed to undoing the results of the 2016 election while ignoring the issues that matter to the vast majority of Americans as Speaker Pelosi increasingly loses her grip on her caucus.
