Chair McMorris Rodgers, Remarks as Prepared for Delivery:
“This week, families in Eastern Washington and all across the country are getting ready for summer. Moms and dads are driving their kids to summer camp. Families have saved up to take those big vacations. And we’re all cooling down our homes during these hot summer months. But right now, those things are too expensive for too many people.

“Americans are seeing higher gas prices at the pump. Their energy bills have skyrocketed. And they have less money in their pockets because their costs are going up. In fact, across this country, we’re seeing the highest average gas prices so far in 2014. This affects everyone – especially those who live paycheck-to-paycheck, and those who are already struggling to pay their bills and make ends meet.

“So the House is taking action with a series of bills this week. They will lower your individual costs, expand domestic energy production to ensure America’s global competitiveness, and create new jobs right here at home. I applaud my colleagues on the Energy and Commerce Committee for their leadership on this issue – and I know that if the President and Senate can come together with us, we will make life better for Americans across this country.”
