House Republicans Act to Provide Security and Certainty for Federal Workers

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 3223, The Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act.

“In an effort to get our government back open as quickly as possible, Republicans acted today to make sure all furloughed federal employees will be paid back as soon as the shutdown comes to an end.  With 800,000 people unsure of when they’ll receive their next paycheck, this bipartisan legislation will ensure they are all protected.  We’re five days into this government shutdown and the President and Senate Democrats still refuse to negotiate a solution.  And the American people are paying the price because of it.  We govern most effectively with negotiations, not crises.  So we ask – yet again – for the Democrats to put the American people first and come to the negotiating table.”
