House GOP Gears Up for #JointAddress

We’re just hours away from President Donald J. Trump’s #JointAddress. House Republicans are hitting the airwaves in support of the President’s bold vision for our country.

Several Republicans sat down with Independent Journal Review to share their excitement for the President’s speech, and what they hope to hear.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Chair of the House Republican Conference

“I’m anticipating that he’s going to give a very hopeful vision for America. I think this election was about getting people back to work, getting our economy growing, creating more opportunities for people in America, and I anticipate we’re going to hear more about his plan. …this is his opportunity to tell America about our priorities when it comes to tax reform, repeal and replace of Obamacare, lifting the regulatory burden — all of which is going to create more opportunities.”

Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL)

“I’m looking forward to hearing the message he’s going to lay out about how to get our American business opportunities and personal career opportunities back here after eight years of slow growth, job killing regulations, and all that.”

Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA)

“I’m very interested in hearing the President lay out his vision for America. …I think the President connects with the people in his own special way, and that’s what’s going to be interesting to see — how he connects tonight.”

Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH)

“There’s a lot of buzz here in the Capitol. A lot of excitement. Regulations are being rolled back. Jobs are being created. There’s a focus on national security — protecting our borders. There’s a lot of excitement about that. How we’re going to go about repealing and replacing Obamacare.”

Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY)

“The President…has laid out what he wants to do. Tonight I’m hoping he’ll tell America and Congress how he plans to do it. …He has said he wants to represent all Americans — provide all Americans with health care and give every American an opportunity for an education.”

Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH)

“I’m sure we’re going to hear President Trump’s vision…Repealing and replacing Obamacare and doing real tax reform are key and I hope he lays out in his vision how we’re going to accomplish that.”

Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), Chair of the House Budget Committee

“I’m looking forward to hearing what [President Trump] has to say. We want to see America made great again and he’s optimistic about that. I want to hear what his plans are. …He has certainly shown us that he is willing to be bold and that he wants to move this country forward.”

Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX)

“I’m really anticipating a great speech tonight, hearing about some of these issues that are so important — border security, repealing and replacing Obamacare, rebuilding our military, tax reform…I’m looking forward to hearing some of the details and what his plans are. I plan on supporting him… and I’m excited we’re going in a different direction than the one we saw for the last eight years.”
