House GOP Chair Corrects Tax Reform Misconceptions on Fox News

Today, House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) joined Dana Perino on Fox News to discuss the recently-passed Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, and the work the House, Senate, and White House are doing to bring more jobs, fairer taxes, and bigger paychecks to the American people.

Here’s what you may have missed:

“It’s simply not true that there are going to be any cuts to Medicare [in tax reform]. That’s simply not true; it’s scare tactics…this is tax reform. This is tax relief for individuals, families, small businesses. For those corporations that have the highest corporate tax in the [industrialized] world, we want to bring those jobs back to America.

“This is tax relief geared at helping hardworking men and women all across this country, the low- and middle-income earners. The average family of four in America would get $1200 in their pocket — it’s a 75 percent tax cut for those average income earners.

“I really believe that those are tired remarks and points by the Democrats, and we’re on the verge of getting this economy growing, getting people back to work. We’ve had stagnant wages and a stagnant economy for way too long, and tax reform is needed for everyone.”
