Yesterday, we exposed House Democrats on the Appropriations Committee for voting down an amendment condemning the BDS movement. But apparently that wasn’t the only anti-Israel action they took on Capitol Hill…
Before the House Chamber kicked off legislative business, Speaker Pelosi invited Imam Omar Suleiman, a supporter of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood with a long history of using extreme rhetoric, to deliver the opening prayer.
Here’s what he’s said in the past:
- When the 2014 Gaza War broke out, Suleiman said on social media: “God willing on this blessed night as the 3rd Intifada begins, the beginning of the end of Zionism is here. May Allah help us overcome this monster, protect the innocent of the world, and accept the murdered as martyrs. ameen.”
- In 2017, he spoke at a rally organized by American Muslims for Palestine, which seeks “to challenge the legitimacy of the State of Israel.”
- Unsurprisingly, he backs the anti-Semitic BDS movement, and has expressed support for both Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
Rep. Omar returned the favor yesterday, praising Suleiman after his invocation.
Bottom line: This disturbing shift against Israel by House Democrats is not an isolated event. It’s not party leadership refusing to hold one or two members accountable. This is a pattern of extreme, anti-Semitic behavior that has spread like a cancer throughout their caucus – and it’s only getting more abhorrent each day they’re in the majority.
