This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the opportunity to represent people who make a difference in the lives of others, like the Mahlstadt family of Indianola.
Nick and Typhanie Mahlstadt not only opened their hearts, but they pledged to make a lasting impact in their children’s home country, Ghana.
They co-founded The Move Project, a nonprofit organization that has served the homeless community in Des Moines, and have worked to improve water quality, construct primary schools, and assist local farmers in Ghana. They also help advance care for orphans and work on reducing poverty through their work with the Acts 2 Collective.
Throughout the month of November, National Adoption Month, we celebrate the Mahlstadts and all who advocate for our young people here in America and around the world.
Family is a gift, and as a representative, I pledge to continue to help families like the Mahlstadts cut through red tape and bring their children home, and to help find a Better Way so that everyone can live life to their full potential.
