Today, the House is set to vote on Speaker Pelosi’s $3 trillion coronavirus “relief” bill that stands no chance of ever becoming law. Their 1,800-page bill is a partisan wish list and an attempt by Democrats to use COVID-19 as an opportunity to enact their agenda. It is full of provisions that have nothing to do with responding to the COVID-19 pandemic:
- Anti-work provisions that hurt the economy
- Get out of jail free cards for prisoners
- Incentives for illegal immigration
- Wasteful spending
- Wholesale election law changes
Speaker Pelosi’s bill is so far out of touch that even some members of her caucus have admitted that this is not the time for a partisan messaging bill:
Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-SC): “A Partisan Wish List”
Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA): “Has No Chance Of Becoming Law”
Rep. Kendra Horn (D-OK): “A Disservice To The American People”
Bottom Line: Speaker Pelosi and her top brass drafted this legislation behind closed doors without input from House Republicans or a majority of their caucus. House Democrats are wasting time chasing their fantasies rather than using their time in Washington to iron out a bipartisan agreement that could actually help the American people.
Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats are putting their political priorities before the country’s best interest.
