Apparently Democrats’ obsession with socialism extends to the dictators who impose it.
Footage surfaced this morning of Rep. Ilhan Omar continuing to attack President Trump and leaders across the free world for recognizing Juan Guaido as the legitimate president of Venezuela. But Omar took it even further this time, equating the President with Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro:
“She went on to compare the situation in Venezuela to the 2016 U.S. election. She suggested a foreign nation could have stepped in and said Hillary Clinton was the legitimate leader because she received more popular votes.
‘None of us are happy with the kind of president we have,’ Omar said. ‘Now if a foreign country just said, ‘Well, we think because Hillary got lots of votes, we’re just going to acknowledge Hillary as the leader of the United States.’ We would have a problem with that.’”
Apparently we need to remind House Democrats that President Trump was elected with 304 electoral votes while Maduro seized power by barring his competitors from running and putting his loyalists in control of Venezuela’s National Election Council. And Maduro is now burning humanitarian aid convoys to prevent his own starving people from receiving food.
We wonder how many of Rep. Omar’s colleagues share her support for this murderous thug…
And this isn’t the first time Rep. Omar propped up the Maduro regime. On January 11, she retweeted an attack against Trump by TeleSur host and 9/11 truther Abby Martin. TeleSur is a state-funded television network known for being used as a propaganda tool for Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro.
Bottom line: Reps. Mark Pocan, Rashida Tlaib and Pramila Jayapal sat idly by as Ilhan Omar called the President of the United States a dictator and defended a socialist regime. Is this the foreign policy platform of the House Democrat caucus in 2019?
