House and Senate Republicans met in Philadelphia for the Congressional Institute’s Congress of Tomorrow retreat. Here’s a recap of the highlights from Day 1 of the #GOPretreat.
Kicking things off, House GOP Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Senate GOP Conference Chair John Thune shared their excitement for unified Republican government.

Then Arthur Brooks gave the lunch keynote address. He focused on the idea that the purpose of policy is to make sure everyone feels needed, not just taken care of. Our dignity as human beings is dependent on living in a society that needs us and where we feel like we are able to create value in our own lives and in the lives of those around us
And he sat down for a Facebook Live with our team following his speech.
Later, Speaker Ryan laid out a 200-day plan to address the major challenges facing our country.
