S. 509 authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a major medical facility project for the construction of a new multiple specialty outpatient facility, campus renovation and upgrades, and additional parking at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. The project cost could not exceed $71.4 million, and the bill would authorize the appropriation of that sum for the project.
The bill authorizes construction of a new outpatient clinic at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. The Department of Veterans Affairs approved funding for the design and construction of the clinic in November 2008.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has not yet produced a cost estimate for S. 509, but the bill authorizes the appropriation of $71.4 million.
