On Monday, December 8, 2014 the House will consider S. 2921 under suspension of the rules. S. 2921 was introduced by Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) on November 13, 2014. The bill passed the Senate without amendment on December 3, 2014 by unanimous consent.
S. 2921 designates the community based outpatient clinic of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Galesburg, Illinois as the “Lane A. Evans VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
Former U.S. Congressman Lane Evans was elected to office in 1982 and represented Illinois’ seventeenth congressional district for twelve terms.[1] He served as ranking member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee for ten years, and was known as a champion of veterans’ issues.[2] Evans passed away in November of 2014 from Parkinson’s disease.[3] The community based outpatient clinic in Galesburg is located in the congressional district that Evans represented.[4]
