Floor Situation

On Monday, November 17, 2014, the House will consider S. 1512, a bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1335 Jefferson Road in Rochester, New York, as the “Specialist Theodore Matthew Glende Post Office,” under a suspension of the rules.  S. 1512 was introduced on September 17, 2013 by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and passed in the Senate by unanimous consent.  The bill was then referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

S. 1512 designates a U.S. Post Office facility located in Rochester, New York as the “Specialist Theodore Matthew Glende Post Office.”

Background

Specialist Theodore M. Glende was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.[1] He lost his life on July 27, 2012 serving during Operation Enduring Freedom in Logar province, Afghanistan.  He was shot while giving medical attention to his fellow soldiers, an act he was awarded for posthumously.[2]
