H.Res. 743 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Christopher S. Murphy (D-CT) on September 14, 2009.
H.Res. 743 would resolve that the House of Representatives honors the life of Frank McCourt for his many contributions to American literature, education, and culture.
According to the resolution's findings, Frank McCourt authored an autobiography titled "Angela's Ashes" which vividly tells of the poverty, hunger, and alcoholism that challenged his family and others in the town of Limerick, Ireland, where he grew up.
