H.Res. 465 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Henry Brown (R-SC) on May 20, 2009.
H.Res. 465 would resolve that the House of Representatives:
• "Recognizes the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association on the occasion of its 10th anniversary;
• "Commends the many achievements of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association; and
• "Encourages the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association to continue its tradition of excellence in service to Waterway users."
According to the resolution's findings, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association was organized in 1999 to address the navigation challenges of the AIWW and to encourage the continuation and further development of waterborne commerce and recreation on the AIWW of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
