H.Res. 1473 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-MT) on June 24, 2010.
H.Res. 1473 would resolve that the House of Representatives recognizes the value of recreational aviation and backcountry airstrips located on the nation's public lands and commends aviators and the various private organizations that maintain these airstrips for public use.
According to the resolution’s findings, recreational airstrips have a small footprint on the landscape, provide for dispersed recreational activity, and act as internal trailheads within backcountry areas.
