H.R. ___ designates the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida as the “C.W. Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.” The bill further requires any reference to the medical center in any law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper of the United States to be considered in reference to the C.W. Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Rep. C.W. “Bill” Young (R-FL) was first elected to Congress in 1970, and was the House’s longest serving Republican. Congressman Young served as a long-time member of the House Appropriations Committee, serving most recently as Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. Rep. Young was known as a strong advocate for our nation’s military and veterans. Young passed away on October 18, 2013, at the age of 82. His time in Congress spanned five decades and eight administrations.
The CBO estimates that enacting this legislation would have no significant cost.
