Background

Sister Ann Keefe dedicated her life to serving others.  At age 18, she joined the Sisters of St. Joseph.  She later moved to Providence, Rhode Island to teach.  In 1982, after earning a master’s degree in social work at Fordham, she joined the team ministry at St. Michael the Archangel Church, in South Providence.  She worked for more than 30 years to improve the lives of disadvantaged Rhode Islanders.  Sister Keefe founded or helped establish dozens of community organizations.  Determined to keep young people constructively occupied, she initiated an arts program that serves hundreds of young people through after-school and summer programs.  She passed away from brain cancer on January 18, 2015, at age 62.  Click here for an in-depth profile of Sister Keefe.
