On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 6260, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. H.R. 6260 was introduced by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) on August 1, 2012, and was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which took no official action on the bill.
H.R. 6260 would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 211 Hope Street in Mountain View, California, as the “Lieutenant Kenneth M. Ballard Memorial Post Office.”
First Lieutenant Kenneth Michael Ballard, 26, of Mountain View, California, died May 30, 2004, in Najaf, Iraq, during a firefight with insurgents. Lieutenant Ballard was assigned to the Army’s 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division.
