On Monday, September 8, 2014, the House will consider H.R. 5019, a bill designating the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1335 Jefferson Road in Rochester, New York, as the “Specialist Theodore Matthew Glende Post Office,” under a suspension of the rules. H.R. 5019 was introduced on July 7, 2014 by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which ordered the bill reported by unanimous consent.
H.R. 5019 designates the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 1335 Jefferson Road in Rochester, New York, as the “Specialist Theodore Matthew Glende Post Office.”
Specialist Theodore M. Glende was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. He lost his life on July 27, 2012 serving during Operation Enduring Freedom in Logar province, Afghanistan. He was shot while giving medical attention to his fellow soldiers, an act he was awarded for posthumously.
