On Monday, September 8, 2014, the House will consider H.R. 4939, a bill designating the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2551 Galena Avenue in Simi Valley, California, as the “Neil Havens Post Office,” under a suspension of the rules. H.R. 4939 was introduced on June 23, 2014 by Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA) and referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which ordered the bill reported by unanimous consent.
H.R. 4939 designates the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 2551 Galena Avenue in Simi Valley, California, as the “Neil Havens Post Office.”
Charles “Neil” Havens served as the postmaster of Simi Valley, California for 30 years, until retiring in 1988. He also was a member of the Simi Valley Rotary Club and the Simi Valley Historical Society. He passed away in 2004.
