Floor Situation

On June 17, 2014, the House will consider H.R. 3765, a bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 198 Baker Street in Corning, New York, as the “Specialist Ryan P. Jayne Post Office Building,” under a suspension of the rules.  H.R. 3765 was introduced on November 13, 2013 by Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) and referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which ordered the bill reported by unanimous consent.

H.R. 3765 designates the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 198 Baker Street in Corning, New York, as the “Specialist Ryan P. Jayne Post Office Building.”

Background

Specialist Ryan P. Jayne enlisted in the Armed Forces in 2010, and served with the 479th Engineering Battalion of the 411th Engineering Brigade.[1]  He was killed on November 3, 2012 in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, by an IED when performing route-clearing duties with fellow soldiers.[2]  He was just 22 years old.
