On Thursday, September 24, 2015, the House will consider H.R. 324, a bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 11662 Gravois Road in St. Louis, Missouri, as the “Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Post Office,” under suspension of the rules. H.R. 324 was introduced on January 13, 2015 by Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) and was referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which ordered it to be reported by unanimous consent on July 22, 2015.
H.R. 324 designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 11662 Gravois Road in St. Louis, Missouri, as the “Lt. Daniel P. Riordan Post Office.”
Lieutenant Daniel P. Riordan was 24 years old when he was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion on June 23, 2007 in Taji, Iraq.[1] He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in south St. Louis County, Missouri, joining the Army in 2005. He served in the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. The Army posthumously awarded Lieutenant Riordan the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.[2]
