On Monday, July 14, 2014, the House will consider H.R. 3027, To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 442 Miller Valley Road in Prescott, Arizona, as the “Barry M. Goldwater Post Office,” under suspension of the rules. H.R. 3027 was introduced on August 2, 2013 by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and was referred to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The bill was marked up on May 21, 2014 and was ordered reported by unanimous consent.
H.R. 3027 designates the U.S. post office located at 442 Miller Valley Road in Prescott, Arizona as the “Barry M. Goldwater Post Office.”
Barry M. Goldwater was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1909. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, in the Arizona National Guard, and later in the Air Force Reserve. Goldwater retired in 1967 after serving thirty-seven years. In 1952, Goldwater was elected to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate, where he ultimately served five terms. Goldwater received the Republican presidential nomination in 1964.
