On Tuesday, July 26, 2011, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 2213 under a suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage. H.R. 2213 was introduced by Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R-MS) on June 16, 2011, and referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
This legislation would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 801 West Eastport Street in Iuka, Mississippi, as the "Sergeant Jason W. Vaughn Post Office.”
Sergeant Jason W. Vaughn, United States Army, a native of Iuka, Mississippi, was killed in action on May 10, 2007 in Baqubah, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near the vehicle in which he was traveling. He was serving with the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division out of Ft. Lewis, WA. Sergeant Vaughn was 29 years old.
According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
