On Monday, March 24, 2014, the House will consider H.R. 1228, a bill to Designate the Facility of the United States Postal Service Located at 123 South 9th Street in De Pere, Wisconsin, as the “Corporal Justin D. Ross Post Office Building,” as amended, under a suspension of the rules. H.R. 1228 was introduced on March 15, 2013 by Rep. Reid Ribble (R-WI) and was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which ordered the bill reported, as amended, by unanimous consent.
H.R. 1228 designates a U.S. Postal Service facility located in De Pere, Wisconsin as the “Corporal Justin D. Ross Post Office Building.” Moreover, the bill states that any reference to the facility in any law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper of the United States shall be considered in reference to the Corporal Justin D. Ross Post Office Building.
Army Specialist Justin D. Ross was killed in action while serving with the 863rd Engineer Battalion, Army Reserve in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He died on March 26, 2011, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by small arms fire. Ross was posthumously promoted to the rank of Corporal.
