H.Con.Res. 264 is expected to be considered on the floor of the House on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, under a motion to suspend the rules, requiring a two-thirds vote for passage. The legislation was introduced by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) on April 21, 2010.
H.Con.Res. 264 would authorize the use of the Capitol Grounds for the "National Peace Officers" Memorial Service.
According to the resolution's findings, the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police and its auxiliary shall be permitted to sponsor the "29th Annual National Peace Officers" Memorial Service on the Capitol Grounds, in order to honor the law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during 2009. The event shall be held on May 15, 2010.
