Biden’s Christmas Present to America: Another Historic Influx at Our Southern Border

Just in time for Christmas, U.S. Border Patrol agents are now warning they could face an “overwhelming” 18,000 illegal crossings a day at the southern border following the court-ordered end of Title 42 on December 21st. This is TRIPLE the current daily average of illegal immigrant encounters under the Biden administration.

BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:
  • Earlier this month, a federal judge struck down Title 42 and ordered the administration to end its enforcement by December 21st. This destroys one of our most powerful tools to quickly expel illegal immigrants and protect our communities.
    • Border Patrol has used Title 42 to expel over 2 MILLION illegal migrants since the Biden administration began, illustrating only a fraction of the influx that could hope to illegally cross our border following this court order.
  • Since Joe Biden took office less than two years ago, over 4 MILLION illegal immigrants have been apprehended crossing the southern border.
  • In October, there were 230,678 illegal immigrant encounters at our southern border.
    • That is a 334% INCREASE from the average number of October encounters under President Trump.
    • There have now been 20 straight months of OVER 150,000 illegal border crossings.
  • 9 individuals on the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) were apprehended at the southern border in October.
    • In Fiscal Year 2022, 98 individuals on the TSDB were apprehended at the southern border—more than the previous five years combined.
  • In August, Joe Biden and his administration decided to make the border crisis WORSE by formally ending former President Trump’s successful‘Remain in Mexico’ program.
  • At least 64,000 illegal immigrants evaded apprehension at our southern border in October.
    • There have been over 1 million known “got-aways” at our southern border since President Biden took office.
  • There were OVER 14,000 pounds of poisonous fentanyl seized in Fiscal Year 2022 at our southern border —a fiscal year record.
  • According to court documents, the Biden administration has allowed over 1 million illegal immigrants to settle in the U.S.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: The Biden administration has repeatedly denied the historic crisis at our southern border and called for an end to Title 42. Now, they clearly have NO plan to address the root causes of our historic border crisis once the dam breaks. House Republicans will fight to secure our borderand conduct crucial oversight in the new majority.
