Chair McMorris Rodgers, Remarks as Prepared for Delivery:
“As we roll out our budget here in the House today, I’m reminded of the people all across the country whose lives will be better because of a more efficient federal government. They’re the people I met with when I was home in Easter Washington last week — the veterans looking for jobs after serving our country; our local entrepreneurs striving to launch their own 21st-century start-ups; and the moms and dads saving their money so they can put their kids through college.

“You know, the federal government could learn a thing or two from families across the country. As the mom of three young kids, I know firsthand the challenge that comes with balancing the family budget. Women all across the country do the same thing — on average, they manage 83% of the household income for their families — and they know better than anyone that a balanced budget leads to a better futures. And our balanced budget will lead to a stronger America.

“By cutting $2 trillion in Obamacare spending, we’re putting money back in people’s pockets and increasing their options at the doctor’s office. By reducing waste, fraud and abuse, we’re making government more efficient and accountable to you. And by eliminating over $5 trillion in spending, we’re creating a healthier economy for Main Street, not Washington. It’s time for the federal government to tighten its budget so American families aren’t forced to tighten theirs.”
