A Love Story

There’s no better time to share a love story than on Valentine’s Day.

In Good Housekeeping magazine, Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) recalls the years before connecting with her now-sweetheart, Dave.

“I didn’t want a relationship,” says Black. “I was concerned about feeding my babies.”

After nearly a decade of marriage, Black was abruptly thrown into life as a single mom and the “sole breadwinner for her young family.”

“A registered nurse, she took on 16-hour hospital shifts while caring for her 6-year-old son, 3-year-old daughter, and infant girl.  Falling in love again was ‘not on my mind,’” Black says as she describes the special, unshakeable bond between a mother and her children.

Fast forward to Valentine’s Day 2016.  Dave — the man who, “… had a feeling Diane was special,” at a high school dance years earlier — turned out to be “the right man not just for me, but also for my children,” Black tells Good Housekeeping.

A tale of missed connections and the unconditional love a mother has for her children, Rep. Black’s special love story is unlike any other.  Read her full story in this month’s issue of Good Housekeeping magazine by CLICKING HERE.
