WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on the 76th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor:
“One of the many blessings of serving in our nation’s capital is the opportunity to meet with veterans, especially during Honor Flights at the monuments. It’s a humbling opportunity to hear their stories of strength and selflessness following times of turmoil and despair. On these days of remembrance, it’s important that we make sure their stories are not forgotten. They have so much to teach our future generations about America being the brightest beacon of hope.
“Today marks the 76th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, a day that President Roosevelt said will live in infamy. And, it has. December 7, 1941, began our nation’s Greatest Generation’s call to action, and they courageously served for our freedom until the battles ended. No matter how much time passes, we must always honor them for carrying the burden of war, for their bravery, and for their sacrifice.”
