$32 trillion? “You just pay for it”

Today, House Democrats on the Rules Committee will finally hold a hearing on their socialist single-payer health care proposal.

With more than 100 Democrats signed on as cosponsors, this bill would abolish private insurance, force every American into a one-size-fits-all government-run system, and cost taxpayers at least $32 trillion over ten years. Even analyses conducted by left-leaning think tanks came up with the same number, which would require tax increases on virtually everyone in the country to pay for.

But when it comes to the astronomical cost, House Dems don’t seem to be concerned:

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez“People often say, how do you pay for it? And the question is so puzzling because how do you pay for something that’s more affordable? How do you pay for cheaper rent? You just pay for it.”
  • Rep. Pramila Jayapal“I actually think the question is not about how we pay for it, it’s a question of political will.”
  • Rep. Mark Pocan: “Some people are inherently afraid of everything.”

Bottom line: Today’s hearing is yet another example of House Democrats embracing socialism and trying to put government in charge of everyone’s health care. We look forward to hearing them explain why they want to rip private health insurance away from millions of Americans and suffocate middle class families with massive tax hikes.
