VIDEO RELEASE: We Are Waiting

WASHINGTON D.C. – The House Republican Conference today released a new video highlighting the Internal Revenue Service’s failure to produce two years of emails from Lois Lerner, the former head of the agency, and at least six other IRS employees. Specifically, the IRS lost the e-mails for Nicole Flax, former Chief of Staff to Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller, who was a frequent visitor to the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. This only raises more questions. Worse, the IRS has been keeping the fact that the agency lost these critical records a secret for months.

While President Obama said his administration would “work hand-in-hand with Congress to get this thing fixed,” the American people are still waiting for answers.

Jake Tapper (CNN): “Sorry, my hard drive crashed” is probably not the kind of excuse that would get you off the hook if you were being audited, but that is exactly the explanation the IRS and now the Obama administration are using to explain more than two years of missing emails from Lois Lerner.

President Obama: The misconduct they’ve uncovered is inexcusable; it is inexcusable, and Americans are right to be angry about it, and I am angry about it. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency, but especially in the IRS.

Thomas Roberts (MSNBC): The IRS seems to have a major problem keeping its own records straight. The agency says it has lost a trove of emails to and from Lois Lerner.

President Obama: Our administration has to make sure that we are working hand-in-hand with Congress to get this thing fixed.

Megyn Kelly (Fox News): The other way they can get Lois Lerner’s allegedly deleted emails or allegedly lost emails is they can go to the White House and say, “Okay, White House, you give us everything from those two years between anybody on your team and Lois Lerner.” Are they likely to cooperate with that, the administration?

President Obama: Our administration has to make sure that we are working hand-in-hand with Congress to get this thing fixed.
