PRENDA prohibits discrimination against the unborn in the form of selective abortion on the basis of sex. Specifically, the bill bans: (1) Sex-selection abortion; (2) The coercion of sex-selection abortion; (3) The solicitation or acceptance of funds for sex-selection abortion; and (4) The transportation of a woman into the country to obtain a sex-selection abortion. SEC. 5. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION Nothing in this Act shall be construed to require that a healthcare provider has an affirmative duty to inquire as to the motivation for the abortion, absent the healthcare provider having knowledge or information that the abortion is being sought based on the sex or gender of the child.
