During a House Budget Committee meeting Congressman Tim Huelskamp asked OMB Controller Daniel I. Werfel about his knowledge of instruction from OMB to the Defense Department (DOD) to ignore the Budget Control Act's requirement to reduce spending. Mr. Werfel indicated that he was not aware of any instruction from OMB to DOD ignore the sequester. Such testimony is contrary to both earlier testimony from Defense Secretary Panetta and a follow up letter from Defense Undersecretary Hale.
