During the September 20, 2012 House Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing Congressman Tim Huelskamp asked witnesses why the VA had not answered his questions about VA conference costs. Committee Chairman Jeff Miller said answers to some of his questions had not been answered either. W. Todd Grams, Executive in Charge for the Office of Management and Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, testified that the VA spent $100 million on conferences in the previous year alone, and that about 80 percent of those expenses are for travel.
