Congressman Tom Petri Introduces Bill to Encourage Small Donors in Federal Campaigns
November 21, 2013
On November 21, 2013, U.S. Representative Tom Petri (R-WI) introduced the Citizens Involvement in Campaigns (CIVIC) Act to bring back a federal tax credit for small donations to campaigns.
"Most would agree that the ideal way to finance political campaigns is through a broad base of donors," Petri said. "But, most Americans don't want to—or can't—commit hundreds or thousands of dollars to a campaign, but they want to get involved. We should be encouraging such participation. This is why I propose to bring back the federal tax credit for small campaign contributions."
