"When the Federal government collects and monitors information on Americans, especially when there is little or no justification for it, it really makes Americans mad." Rep. Duffy continued, "If the CFPB wants to collect, retain and monitor information on Americans, they have to get their permission."
Rep. Duffy further emphasized the need for his legislation calling it, "the ultimate consumer protection", saying that the agency should, "allow Americans to have direct control of their information when it relates to their government." H.R. 2571 passed committee early Thursday morning.
