Congressman Rigell talks about the economic and security benefits of opening up the coastal energy available off of Virginia. Rigell's amendment to the Domestic Energy And Jobs Act requires the Secretary of Interior to include Lease Sale 220 in the 5 Year Plan for Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas drilling. It also requires the Secretary of the Interior to execute Lease Sale 220 within one year of enactment. Finally, it protects national security by ensuring that no oil and gas lease may be conducted that would conflict with the Navy's operational requirements.
