On Tuesday, February 26, I discussed the sequester's effect on national security with Thomas Roberts from MSNBC. The problem with the sequester is not how much the spending cuts amount to, it is how the cuts are made. There are better ways to cut spending that allows more flexibility and prioritization, so we are not cutting essential programs like those that will negatively impact military readiness. This is what the House did in the two bills we passed earlier this year that recommended smarter and more strategic spending reforms.
