Rep. Mica Appears on Stossel to Discuss Vacant and Underutilized Federal Buildings
May 11, 2012
On May 10, 2012 Congressman Mica appeared on FOX Business with John Stossel to discuss the poor management and underutilization of federal properties around the country. They toured the Old Post Office in Washington, D.C., which has been sitting partially vacant for a decade, costing taxpayers $6.5 million every year.
They also toured the Cotton Annex, a 89,000 square-foot building occupying a large parcel of highly desirable but underdeveloped land one block away from the National Mall. The building has been empty for years, but GSA has no plans to put this asset, conservatively valued at $150 million, to use in a way that benefits the taxpayers.
