U.S. Representative John Fleming, M.D., during a congressional hearing on "The Department of Energy's Strategy for Exporting Liquefied Natural Gas," questioned Mr. Chris Smith, Acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy in the U.S. Department of Energy, about the department's months-long delay in releasing a report on exporting natural gas. Rep. Fleming also questioned Charles Ebinger, the director of the Energy Security Initiative at the Brookings Institution, about the potential pricing of U.S. natural gas exports.
